Gardening Guider (gardeningguider.com) is reader-supported, and we believe in being completely open about how that works. This page explains our use of affiliate links in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines and the terms of the programs we belong to.
What affiliate links mean
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission — at no additional cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same. These small commissions help us keep the site running and our guides free to read.
Programs we participate in
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate programs that let publishers earn fees by linking to Amazon and selected retailers. Where relevant, this includes garden-focused partners such as seed and tool suppliers in both global and Indian markets.
Our editorial independence
We only recommend products and services we genuinely believe will help our readers. Our reviews and advice are never dictated by advertisers or affiliate partners, and a commission never buys a better rating. If we wouldn’t suggest it to a friend, we won’t suggest it to you. The decision to buy through our links is always entirely yours.

How we choose what to recommend
A disclosure that only says “we may earn a commission” tells you nothing about whether the recommendation is any good. So here is the selection process itself.
- The job comes first, the product second. We work out what a gardener actually needs for the task, then look for something that does it. Not the other way round.
- Commission rate never decides the order. A lower-paying product that works better still goes first. This costs us money and is the entire point.
- No merchant copy. Descriptions are written by us. Marketing text copied from a retailer tells you nothing and is exactly what thin affiliate pages are made of.
- Cheaper wins when cheaper is enough. Plenty of gardening jobs do not need the premium tool, and we say so.
- We name the drawback. If something rusts, needs sharpening, or is too heavy for smaller hands, that belongs in the recommendation.
Where we have not tested something ourselves, we say that too, and we lean on documented buyer experience rather than pretending to first-hand use.
Why we never print prices
You will not find a price typed into any of our recommendations, and that is deliberate.
Prices change daily. A number written into an article is out of date within weeks, and a stale price is not a small error. It sends you to a checkout expecting one figure and finding another.
It is also against the rules of the programmes we belong to. Amazon’s Associates programme, for instance, allows prices to be shown only through its own live widgets, not typed in by hand.
So we describe what a product does and let you see the current price at the retailer. The same goes for “was, now” claims, discount codes and countdown offers, none of which appear here.
Which links are affiliate links, and which are not
Not every outbound link earns us anything. In fact most of them do not.

Affiliate links carry the rel=”sponsored” attribute, which is the standard way of telling search engines that a link is commercial. We do not hide or cloak destinations behind redirect services, so you can always see where a link goes before you click it.
Advertising is separate again. Ads on article pages are served by advertising networks and are not recommendations from us.
What this means for you in practice
Three plain consequences of the arrangement above.
You never pay more for using our links. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket.
You are never required to use them. Buying the same item directly, or somewhere else entirely, costs you nothing and costs us only a commission we were never owed.
And if you think a recommendation here is wrong, tell us. The contact page reaches a real person, and a well-argued objection has changed our recommendations before.
